Manual - External Tyre Pressure Monitoring System TPMS

Each Tyre Pressure Monitoring System sensor has a unique ID code. Please make sure the TPMS sensor is installed in corresponding tire. The arrangements can be changed in the nGauge 4x4 App afterwards if incorrectly installed.

Installation Diagram:

TPMS Fitment Instructions

  1. Remove tyre valve cap, screw in Anti-theft screw.
  2. Install outer sensor on tyre valve in the correct order.
  3. Hold the sensor, tighten Anti-theft screw. Check for leakage after tightening.

  • Please follow markings/numbering on tyre pressure monitor sensor and install on corresponding tyre.
  • Store the provided wrench inside the car.
  • Sensors go in standby mode to save power when not driving. Drive the car for 2-3km to get a reading.

The nGauge 4x4 External TPMS sensors should be installed one by one. Start with the sensor marked 1 or with the indicator on the top left corner for the front left tyre. To install the sensor, remove the standard valve cap and optionally screw on  the lock nut all the way to the base of the valve. Then screw on the sensor unit tightly. Hold the sensor and, using the tool provided, tighten the lock nut to the sensor. As soon as the sensor detects the pressure change, it should start sending readings to the app. Proceed to install the remaining sensors in order: front left, front right, back left, back right. The order is not critical as the mapping can be changed easily in the app. To optimise battery use, the sensor only sends readings when the value changes. If no readings are detected, try driving the vehicle a short distance. As the temperature changes, the sensor should start transmitting data. We recommend talking to your tyre fitment centre about the weight tolerances and rebalance the wheels if needed.

Battery Replacement

Each sensor has a replaceable CR1632 battery. Remove the black plastic insert from the bottom of the sensor. Flip this insert upside down and use it as a spanner to unscrew the PCB from the housing. Use a non conductive item to push the battery out of the holder and replace with new one. Screw the PCB back in place and be carefull not to over tighten it. Put the insert back in its place and screw the sensor back on the valve stem.

Please note using tyre sealant or other fluids with TPMS sensors can damage the units and warranty will be voided.

If you do extensive driving on gravel roads, rocky trails, through mud, water, sand etc. the Internal TPMS units are recommended. External sensors should not be submerged in water or cleaned with high pressure jet. Remove the sensors before washing car or when wading through deep water. Please ensure compressor used to top up the air has a water drain. Please ensure valve stems are completely dry and dust free before fitting the TPMS sensors. Warranty will be voided for improper use.

View Tyre Pressure and Tyre Temperature simultaneously

If you would like to view pressure and temperature simultaneously, scan the QR code a second time. This will create duplicates icons. One by one, click on each icon, then go top right menu to "Edit Device", go to "Enable/Disable" sensors, and select only "Temperature", press ok and exit. Repeat for all duplicates. You will now have a duplicate set showing only the Temperature of the tyres.
